Terms and Conditions
1. The service
StartIUP ("we", "the service") runs startiup.com and does two things. Make an idea: you give the Idea Computer an idea name (1 to 60 characters) and a short description (10 to 500 characters), and an automated pipeline produces a working, hosted prototype app plus its source files, UX and brand files, a technical build spec and next-step guidance. Buy an idea: a catalogue of finished apps, each sold once with its premium domain. StartIUP is a factory, not a building tool: there is no chat, no prompting and no back-and-forth with an AI anywhere on the site.
2. Accounts
You sign in with your email address, by magic link or password depending on the current build. You are responsible for activity on your account. After sign-in you are returned only to pages on startiup.com; off-site redirect targets are ignored. We may suspend accounts that break these terms, with notice where the law allows.
3. Credits and payment
- One credit equals one US dollar. Credits are bought up front in packs and never expire.
- A build costs 69 credits. Premium demo hosting costs 10 credits.
- Payment runs through a hosted card checkout; we never see or store card numbers. Receipts are emailed.
- Credits are reserved when a build starts, spent only when the build finishes, and returned automatically when a build fails or is refused.
- There are no subscriptions. Nothing renews.
4. Builds
Each build runs a six-stage pipeline in about two hours. Quoted stage and total times are estimates, never promises. Builds run on our servers whether or not your browser is open; we email you when the build finishes or fails. Every idea passes an acceptable use check before any work begins. If a build fails, is refused, or cannot complete, the reserved credits are returned in full and the screen and email say so. After repeated failures of the same idea we review it internally before further attempts.
All output is produced by an automated system and is disclosed as AI-generated. The internal business blueprint the pipeline creates is working material: it is never shown, sold or downloadable, on screen, in files, in the film or in any marketing.
5. Your ownership
You own your output from day one. On successful completion you receive the app source files, the UX and brand files, the technical build spec and the next-step prompt as downloads. We claim no license-back and build no StartIUP dependency into generated code. You may use, modify, sell or shelve the output without asking us.
6. Honest prototypes
A build delivers a prototype, not production software. Small failures (a missing logo, a broken function) are normal and said so plainly. Output is provided "as is". Before real users, real data or real money touch your prototype, review it: the build spec lists the security practices it was written against, and the next-step prompt names what remains. StartIUP does not host production apps, run payments for your app, or hold your customers.
7. Demo hosting
Each completed build includes a hosted demo, free for 7 days, carrying a small footer credit reading "Designed and built by startiup.com". We remind you 2 days before expiry and on the day. After expiry the URL shows "this demo has ended" and your files remain downloadable. Premium hosting (10 credits) extends the demo to 365 days and removes the footer credit.
8. Buy an idea
- Each listing is sold once, at the displayed price, as a one-off card payment. The first completed payment wins; a listing locks while a payment is in progress.
- App files are downloadable immediately after payment.
- Domain transfer: you request the transfer from your purchases page and we issue the transfer code, targeting 24 hours. The demo on that domain goes offline once issued.
- A purchase is final once the transfer code has been issued.
- Every purchase keeps a permanent, exportable proof record: payment, request, code issued and by whom, email sent, first view, downloads.
9. Refunds
- Failed or refused builds: automatic, full, no request needed. The credit return appears in your balance and history.
- Demo hosting: premium hosting is final once applied to a live demo.
- Buy an idea: final once the transfer code is issued; before that, contact us if something is wrong and we will make it right.
- Payment errors: tell us and we fix them. That is the whole policy; money should never be the reason you hesitate.
10. Acceptable use
Every idea is screened at the initial input stage, before any build work or spend. We refuse ideas in these categories:
- Illegal activities
- Hate speech and discrimination
- Violence and self-harm
- Explicit and offensive content
- Misinformation and disinformation
- Intellectual property infringement
- Malware and phishing
- Personal harm
A refused idea shows "BUILD STOPPED." with the reason, and credits are returned. Ambiguous cases are refused rather than risked. Attempts to smuggle instructions into the idea text are treated as content to classify, never as commands, and are themselves grounds for refusal.
11. Privacy
Your ideas are private. They are never listed, sold or shown to anyone. The full data handling rules live in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.
12. Intellectual property
Your output is yours (section 5). The StartIUP name, the start/i/up mark, the Idea Computer design and this site are ours. Nothing here grants you rights to our brand except telling the truth about what built your prototype.
13. Liability
The service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits, or lost data arising from use of the service. Our total liability for any claim is capped at the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.
14. Changes
If we change these terms we update the date above and, for material changes, email signed-in users before they take effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the new terms.
15. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of [jurisdiction to be confirmed at company registration], without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes go to the courts of that jurisdiction unless mandatory consumer law gives you another forum.
16. Contact
Questions about these terms: write to us via the contact page or at support@startiup.com.
